Product Description

The Farm Shop is thrilled to release the very first Heritage Blankets, a collection of exquisite artisan blankets hand-woven with rare Navajo-Churro sheep’s wool, grown and spun in Northern New Mexico.

Early Rio Grande, Pueblo, and Navajo textiles were woven from Churro, a now endangered breed that produces heirloom wool known for its luster, silky hand, and durability. Los Poblanos was instrumental in the reintroduction of Churro sheep in the 1930s. Launched by Espanola Valley Fiber Arts Center, we jumped at the opportunity to support a project that preserves New Mexican culture and benefits rural weaving communities.

Very few are woven each year and for a limited time, we have three designs available in either natural or dark gray wool.

All colors are natural undyed wool from the sheep,  so colors may vary slightly from blanket to blanket.

Each blanket is approximately 47″ x 72″.
