Outdoor landscape painting requires being well-grounded in the principals of plein air painting based on the principals of the French Impressionists: How Light Works in the Outside World. This includes designing large, simplified shapes, correct color values, strong light/shadow pattern, color temperature shifts, hard & soft edges.We will do several small studies and 2 medium size paintings per day.
Learn how to approach painting in a direct & decisive manner, keeping your paintings fresh & alive! By understanding how light works in the outside world, you will better understand how to apply this to all of your painting, whether in the studio from photos or the still-life or live model. This class will help you kick-off your Spring, Summer & Fall Plein Air Painting, getting solid in the principals that will give you a successful season of outdoor landscape painting!
