What better setting to learn the art of drawing and painting in the field? Directed towards those interested in travel or leisure sketching, as well as design professionals, courses taught at Los Poblanos will focus on one subject at a time, allowing students to select which skills they most want to develop. Classes will be limited to 6-12 students where students can experience one-on-one instruction from the extensive experience of instructor Karin Pitman.
This course will cover the basics of color theory as well as basic watercolor painting techniques, and weather permitting, on site field practice. While this course is directed towards both the beginning artist, and those who have not used watercolor before, accommodations can be made for more experienced painters as well.
Karin Pitman, AIA, PLA, LEED AP, an architect and landscape architect, has enjoyed drawing since childhood. Having first studied watercolor painting in the 1980’s, she formerly taught freehand perspective drawing at Arizona State University. In New Mexico, Karin has taught watercolor, liquid acrylic and mixed media painting, as well as drawing classes. She has received several awards in New Mexico Watercolor Society Shows as well as at the Grumbacher Invitational in Prescott, Arizona, and her work has been published in Architectural Record magazine, Drawing Shortcuts, 2nd Edition (by Jim Leggitt), Builder's News magazine, and The Albuquerque Journal.
