Distillation Assistant - Seasonal

Position Description     

Under supervision of the Farm Manager and Distillation Lead, the primary duties of the Los Poblanos Distillation Assistant will be daily production and record keeping for essential oils and hydrosols for use in LP products and services including but not exclusively lavender. The position also includes harvesting and processing botanicals from the property for use in gin production and food products. The distillation assistant will also help with harvesting and deadheading flowers for weekly flower bucket deliveries as well as large scale arrangements. Our goal is to preserve Los Poblanos core values and stay true to our mission statement.

Reports to: Farm Manager, Distillation Lead 
Position Type: Seasonal, Full-time, Non-exempt

Essential Job Functions

  • Greet customers, patrons, and visitors
  • Convey information about our processes to guests in a fun and informative way
  • Take instruction and work independently without supervision
  • Adhere to all food safety standards
  • Maintaining and organizing all distillation and dehydration equipment
  • Keep detailed records regarding all distillation procedures and food production details
  • Assist in the harvesting and deadheading flowers
  • Assist in the distillation of botanicals
  • Post-harvest handling of all produce
  • Helping as needed with groundskeeping, farming and with any large tasks (e.g., lavender harvest, weeding rose garden, etc.as requested by The Farm and Landscape managers
  • Understand and adhere to all safety protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization standards
  • Present a clean appearance at all times and follow dress code to suit work tasks
  • A flexible schedule is helpful as extra hours may be available for special events and promotional events on weekends. Primary schedule will be set with farm manager.

  • Ability to work long hours in the elements
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and bend for long periods of time 
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds
  • Commitment to the company mission statement
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to understand recipes, measurements, and portion sizes
  • Interest in aromatherapy, organic farming, gardening, and fresh food are a plus
